The Poor Shall Eat and Be Satisfied

Again, hear Psalm 22, verse 26 – “The poor shall eat and be satisfied; Those who seek Him will praise the LORD.  Let your heart live forever!

Resurrection Sunday and Every Lord’s Day is a Day of Resurrection.  This means that those who partake of Christ by faith are part of the New Humanity – and that Humanity shares at this Table – the Table of the Lord.  What do we share?  We share a body broken for us and the cup filled with the blood of our Savior.  No, the bread and wine are not transformed, they are not transubstantiated.  The bread remains bread and the wine, wine.

But by means of the Holy Spirit – the same Spirit that raised you up in new life in Christ – you partake by faith of Christ at this Table.  This is the Table of Union and Communion.  Christ did die.  His body was broken.  His blood was shed.  But in His death He conquered death – and in our partaking of His death, we partake of His life – His resurrection life.

And so all who are in Christ Jesus, baptized into His death and resurrection are welcome to this Table, this Victory Feast of our Reigning King.  And you will live forever!  Amen.
