Life and Peace from the Table

This is the Table of life.  It is the Table of Communion with our Lord.  But this is not a Table where you will physically be stuffed with fat things and goblets of the finest wines.  You will simply take a small piece of bread and a small cup of wine – for these are symbols, signs, tokens, of what you are receiving by faith in the power of the Holy Spirit.

But do not let tokens or signs distract or disappoint you.  It is in the act of participating in this ritual by faith that you really partake of the Lord Jesus and are really nourished by Him – nourished in intimate communion with Him and also with this body around you – the brothers and sisters He has shed His blood for.

This is a Table of that perfect peace Isaiah mentioned.  Stay your mind on Him, but do so by looking around you and seeing His body – there, in your brother and sister – there – is the peace of the Lord as well.
