Promoting the Response

"...if our response to the truth is part of what is revealed in any given passage, then our fidelity to Scripture requires us to bring that message, that appeal for action, to our hearers.  This does not call for lack of passion and urgency in the preacher, as if our longing to see a response was in itself a trespass against the Holy Ghost.  And yet...and yet...without doubt our appeals can so easily overstep the mark!  Just remember:  the declaration of the truth is our responsibility.  This includes the truth about making a response, but actually promoting that response is His work." - Motyer, Preaching? p110.
