Let
us make clear again the necessity of good works in order to come to the Table
of our Lord. There is a necessity of
good works which qualifies each one of us to come and participate in communion.
And
all of those good works were accomplished for us by our Savior and Lord – that
is why His body was broken; that is why His blood was shed. There is nothing you or I can add to this
table. This is a table of good works –
but someone else’s not our own.
There
is nothing, absolutely nothing you can do to deserve to be here. This is a Table of grace. And at this Table, we will be fed with good
works – and then we will go out from here and walk in the good works that we
have been united to – and all to the glory of our God and Savior Who is working
in us. Amen.
